Stop wasting time wading through poor research. Tessa helps you quickly identify and understand the most relevant, verifiable, and trustworthy research within any area of bio-medical scientific inquiry.

Identify research quality with a glance

Tessa uses advanced data science and multi-modal analysis to identify and score nearly 200 variables that contribute to the overall trustworthiness and quality of a paper. It then categorizes them into five scoring groups so that you can quickly assess how each contributes to the overall score.

Want to dive deeper? Click an element to see the authors' h-index and affiliations, journal impact, highlighted content components, and relationships like organizations and funding sources. Tessa also provides a comprehensive research summary, findings, study details, and quality scoring based on metrics like study design, sample size, p-values, and more. Tessa also provides a summary of citations, peer reviews, and community comments.

Tessa even extracts the images in the papers does an image search to find out if they appear in other materials elsewhere.

Brain Power

Neural Networking Problem-Solving Abilities Assisted by AI

Tessa's research analysis is based on a neural networking framework that mimics the structure and function of the human brain to recognize patterns and solve complex problems in ways that AI's large language models (LLMs) can't.

The framework—Transparency, Explainability, and Significance, or "TES"—lets Tessa use the same sort of reasoning heuristics humans do to assess the trustworthiness of scientific information.

Once the reasoning analysis is done and scored, Tessa uses an LLM to concisely explain the findings and interact with users in natural language.

AKA: "Show Your Work". Transparency looks for the clarity and fidelity of the methodologies and data sources, as well as contributing factor such as affiliations of the researchers and funding sources It also analyzes the level of detail within the materials that would allow others to repeat the research described.

Explainability is the consistency and coherence of the information as well as the ability to support it if it contradicts other information. It also factors elements like the level of uncertainty, the ability to address questions and criticisms, and details that help shed light on how the conclusions were reached.

Significance measures the relative importance of both the components and results of a piece of research. Components include the type and nature of study, the reputation of the authors, institutions and publications, etc. Significance also factors in peer review commentary, recency, citations, and other elements that help determine the overall impact.

Deep Dive Analysis

Tessa makes it simple to find reliable, high quality, and trustworthy scientific information. Using proprietary machine learning and AI technologies, Tessa does a deep dive analysis on scientific research, breaking it into discrete parts and scoring it so you can quickly identify the material of highest interest to you.

1. Start With a Search

Simply enter a research subject, the title of a paper, or a PubMed ID (PMID) and Tessa will dive in.

2. Get a Topline Score

Select a paper from the Tessa search results to see summary information including full title, overall score, authors, and sub-metric ratings in each of five categories.

3. See Sub-metric Details

Click a sub-metric to see the underlying details and see how frequently the paper has been cited over time.

4. Content Identification

For quick reference, Tessa identifies and color codes elements like organizations, people, measurements, acronyms, dates, and more. Each element highlight can be turned on or off.

5. Content Summaries

Tessa provides a summary of the study along with findings, details, quality, and other relevant details.

6. Reference Checks

Tessa identifies references (including self-citations), relevance and citation frequency by year.

7. Community Notes

Tessa includes summaries of peer-reviews as well as other community notes such as references in social media, publications, etc.

8. Visualize Relationships

Tessa produces an interactive visualization showing how people and organizations associated with the paper are linked.

9. Image Extraction & Search

Tessa identifies and extracts images within the document allowing you to click and enlarge as well as search the Internet for the same or similar images.
